• Question: Why does water go down plugholes one way here, yet it swirls in the opposite direction in Australia?

      According to fact or myth the water swirls the opposite direct because they setup the water streams differently! I had no idea till now 🙂 Thanks for teaching me! Here is a really cool article comparing the flushing water!

      I’m not 100% sure on t his however some people speculate that it is due to something called the coriolis effect which is where water spins one direction in the northern hemisphere and the opposite in the southern hemisphere (top and bottom half of earth) however it is claimed that the effect of this is so small that it cannot have the effect seen. Other speculations are that factors such as shape and design of basin, toilet, the way water is moving before plug is pulled etc.

      sorry the answer isn’t that helpful but just an insight into different opinions
