Question: How did you learn about mine drainage, and why did you want to learn about it?

It turns out that I was aware of mine drainage way before I knew what it was. When I was growing up there were creeks and streams that we were not allowed to play in, that were often a orange-muddy color. I did not understand at the time but it was because it was polluted with mine drainage. When I got to university, I was provided not only an explanation but a possible solution. I want my children and the future generations to be able to play in streams and creeks and not have to worry that it could be harmful to them or the wildlife around them.
